What is IOT?

The Internet of Things (IOT) basically refers to how things are connected through sensors, circuits, software and other technologies. It allows them to collect and exchange data either with each other or with the Internet.
These devices range from common household objects to sophisticated industrial tools.
With more than 10 billion IoT devices connected today, experts predict that this number will increase to 22 billion by 2025.

Does the Internet of Things (IoT) really matter?

The truth is that during the last years we humans are becoming more and more dependent on IOT, however there are many theories that say that this may destroy us in the future but definitely while that future arrives, life is becoming much easier. Today you can even regulate the temperature of your bed while you sleep, program the kitchen to make your coffee and breakfast, the perfect communication between people, processes and things.

It is important to emphasize that they are called smart devices because they fulfill one or all of the functions below:

Monitoring:

It is perhaps the most important, from the integration of various sensors will be able to know what happens around your smart device, for example identifies the speed, temperature, altitude and movement to your environment.

Control:

From the monitoring it will have to execute an action, either turn on the light, heat the shower, turn on the oven, open a door, whatever it is! you are the one who decides the control of the device. for now!!!!

Optimization:

This aspect is very interesting due to the statistical evaluation of data that once they are studied in greater volume, (I mean the amount of people with devices) they create an algorithm summarized in consumption habits so predictable that the day may come when machines will tell us how we should be or what we should think to make our lives better.

Automation:

This is where a behavior becomes a habit and thus personalities become predictable so that every day your device makes you happier.

Things to keep in mind!

IoT security issues
Top 10 IoT device security flaws
Weak, predictable or in-code passwords.

*Insecure network services.
*Insecure interface ecosystem.
*Lack of secure update mechanisms.
*Use of insecure or outdated components.
*Insufficient privacy protection.
*Lack of management controls.
*Unsecure configuration by default.

I hope I have given you a better idea of how you are currently being evaluated by your devices and how far this fascinating world of the Internet of Things (IOT) can go. If you have any questions or would like to provide good information on the subject, you can write to me. :)
